i. you thought you would have everything in this
world laid at your feet.
ii. for a while, you did. you ruled with the others
by your side, mouth open in laughter, your
every need tended to.demigods. we could sit on thrones in the town square.
iii. you gave him everything you had. love, money,
monstrosity, affection. you hoped he would come
back (you always did).
he did, but not the way you wanted.
(you realise that he was the monster all along.)
iv. murder is pollution.
you are an empty world filling with poisonous fumes,
filling with oil spills. when you taste the wordpollution, it feels like his fall.
v. you’re laughing, you’re crying, you’re shaking,
you’re spitting, but no one comes to you anymore.
they all turn away. you crumble, you crumble,
you c r u m b l e.
vi. still you go to him. the monster. the one you
gave everything to. you do it again.
vii. you marry her. there’s barely a you anymore,
so why does it matter if there’s no love?
